Reporting across diffrences

A hardcore trump supporter runs an armory out of a run-down building in Glendale and plans to make tailored firearms for the Phoenix Police Department.

Kyle Johnson, a retired Marine Core Infantryman, has been making custom firearms since he retired from the military in late 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona.

He runs a firearms business from a small building, specializing in making firearms for private clients. He’s a devout advocate, as he owns 15 fully custom-made military-grade weapons in his household, a stockpile of ammo in his garage as tall as a Picket fence, and various weapons hung on his walls.

At his shop in Glendale, he has firearms covering the entire wall and a plethora of various attachments to be mounted on each weapon. Now that he's retired from the military, he spends his days constructing, testing, and fine-tuning firearms.

"It feels more organic now. Granted, being in the military played a big part in my love for firearms, but it's always been a part of me, and I see now that I'm retired, I can do much more."

He also says he's glad Arizona is another state that embraces firearms and believes a younger, fresher judiciary branch in Phoenix is threatening his Second Amendment right to own and distribute firearms legally in the city and state of Arizona.

Typically, after finishing a workday of truck driving locally around Phoenix for FedEx, dropping off trailers, he spends the rest of his time tending to clients who pay him anywhere from two to four thousand dollars to tailor their weapons and have them ready for exchange.

"It's like making a tailored suit for my clients. I ask them what they like and need and when it can be assembled. It's like the scene where the concierge broke down, tailored, and gave various options to John Wick or battle in John Wick Two."

One of his most frequent clients, Denzel Chuckwurah, visited him at his home to pick up a tailored-made Glock 19, they have known each other for several years. Denzel says, “He's the best in the business”. “No one builds firearms from the ground up as meticulously as he does. I also love that he is healthy and obsessive about weapons, much like me."

Moreover, Mr. Johnson has a local law enforcement contract in the works, where he plans to be the Phoenix Police Department's sole proprietor for attachments to weapons, whether department-issued or custom-made for officers.

Alex Murry is a retired officer of the Phoenix Police Department who now works at C2 Tactical in Tempe, Arizona. He says, "Kyle is a much-needed refresh in Phoenix's gun scene. Even with the relaxed gun laws here, his expertise is very welcomed, and more of my retired colleagues and I look forward to working with him."

Kyle Johnson has made custom firearms for Alex In the past. With Mr. Murry's help, he wants him to assist with various training exercises for private security companies that are becoming more present in Arizona. He also makes custom body armor for security companies as well. Alex says, "He's from the military, so I expect him to have a background on him, but to have one as impressive as working with private security companies surprised me."

Kyle Johnson also plans to expand his business from himself to about 20 people with likes people like Denzel Chukwurah and Alex Murry in the coming months.
